Short Biography
Pornpreeya Jumnongbut is a distinguished criminologist whose work spans corrections, criminology, criminal justice, and communications in international affairs. She earned her Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Criminology from the University of Cambridge and her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Chulalongkorn University, both pursued with the invaluable support of highly prestigious scholarships. Her master’s and doctoral dissertations examined key themes in criminology and correctional innovation, with her doctoral research pioneering the application of virtual reality (VR) technology to offender rehabilitation and reintegration.
Her career integrates both scholarship and practical experience. She has contributed significantly to the development of national rehabilitation and penology frameworks, enhancing correctional standards and promoting reintegration in line with international best practices. She is also actively engaged in public service, with responsibilities for shaping high-level government communications on international affairs and presiding as master of ceremonies at high-level state and diplomatic events.
Building on this foundation of academic and professional impact, Pornpreeya has also gained recognition in the public sphere. She was selected as a Top 20 finalist in Miss Universe Thailand 2020, where she used the platform to advocate for the smooth reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals—demonstrating her commitment to social justice and public engagement. She has also appeared as a guest expert on national television to share insights on criminology and criminal justice. In academia, she continues to contribute as a guest lecturer, including on correctional innovation and the transformative role of emerging technologies in criminal justice.”
