On 17 August 2025, during the MHESI Fair 2025: SCI POWER FOR FUTURE THAILAND,
Center for Crime Science organized the workshop “CPTED: Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design”.
The activity aimed to introduce participants to new perspectives on how the design and management of surroundings can help reduce crime opportunities and enhance community safety.

The workshop content covered the five key principles of CPTED:
Natural Surveillance – “See and be seen” by reducing blind spots.
Natural Access Control – Defining entrances and exits to minimize risky pathways.
Territorial Reinforcement – Creating a sense of ownership over the space.
Activity Support – Encouraging safe and active use of spaces.
Maintenance – Ensuring ongoing upkeep to prevent deterioration and crime-prone areas.

Participants practiced thinking, designing, and experimenting with simulated site models to understand how small environmental elements—such as lighting, pathways, and landscaping—can significantly improve safety.
We believe that “A safe community begins with the way we design and care for our shared spaces.”
