International Symposium on Digital Fraud Prevention and Detection

October 3, 2025

Thursday, September 18, 2025
at City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR

Pol. Lt. Col. Dr. Peerapat Manklasiri,
Deputy Director of the Center for Crime Science,
was honored to serve as a Keynote Speaker on the topic:
“Call Center Scams and Human Trafficking for Forced Criminality.”

Highlights from the Presentation:
• The issue of call center scams in Thailand and neighboring countries is interconnected through structural, network, and financial linkages.
• Many cases reflect patterns of human trafficking for forced criminality, where victims are coerced to work in scam centers — posing a major challenge to justice processes and victim protection mechanisms.
• Thailand has established the Warroom (International Anti-Scam and Human Trafficking Syndicate Command Center – IAC) under the Royal Thai Police as a joint command center for intelligence sharing and coordinated operations with international partners.
• The application of Crime Science approaches — such as Crime Script Analysis and Routine Activity Theory — provides deeper understanding of the crime cycle and helps identify key “intervention points” to effectively disrupt criminal networks.

This presentation highlighted the role of the Thai police on the international stage and reaffirmed the importance of cross-border collaboration combined with crime science methodologies in designing sustainable measures to combat cybercrime and human trafficking.
