Another activity that attracted considerable interest at The 1st Symposium on Crime Science was the Safe City Innovator Workshop. This hands-on session brought together participants from diverse sectors to jointly explore, analyse, and design approaches to creating safer cities.

Participants examined urban safety challenges from the perspectives of different user groups, exchanged ideas, identified risk factors, and collaboratively developed innovative concepts for place-based crime prevention. They applied Crime Science, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), and Design Thinking before translating their ideas into prototype solutions.
The workshop was filled with lively discussions, collaboration, and creativity among participants from diverse professional backgrounds. It demonstrated that Public Safety Innovation is not the responsibility of any single organisation but emerges from cross-sector collaboration in jointly designing cities that are safe and liveable for everyone.

The activity marked another important step towards promoting public participation and translating Crime Science knowledge into practical solutions for real-world challenges at the local level.
