On 10 August 2025, at the OHEC Fair 2025: SCI POWER FOR FUTURE THAILAND,
the Crime Science Knowledge Hub hosted a talk titled:
“Crime Science 101” – Introducing New Perspectives on Preventing and Reducing Crime in the Digital Era

- Crime Science applies scientific methods and multidisciplinary knowledge to effectively reduce crime.
- Compared traditional crime control approaches—focused on retribution and deterrence—with evidence-based, scientific strategies that leverage data and research to understand root causes and prevent crime proactively.
Topics discussed included :
- Using data science for crime mapping and hotspot analysis
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
- Applying advanced technologies such as AI Police Cyborg 1.0 for crime prevention
- Raising public awareness, particularly on online fraud prevention, to eliminate potential “victims” from the crime equation

The talk concluded with three key principles that capture the essence of Crime Science: “Reduce Crime – Think Scientifically – Use Multidisciplinary Approaches.”
